Landing page or full website: which one do you need?
How to choose the right start for your business, so you do not pay for pages you will not use, or launch with too little.
Many business owners come to me asking for "a website" when what they really need is a single, focused page. Others ask for one page when their business clearly needs more. Picking the right start saves money and gets you results sooner.
What is a landing page?
A landing page is one page with one goal. It tells visitors what you offer, why they should trust you, and asks them to do one thing: call you, send a message or fill in a form.
Because it is short and focused, it is quick to build. My landing pages usually take 2-3 days.
What is a full website?
A full website has several pages: home, about, services, maybe a blog and a contact page. It gives people room to explore, and it gives Google more to understand about your business.
A business website from me has 5-6 pages and a blog you can run yourself, and takes about 5-7 days. If you want to edit every page on your own, a full CMS website with an admin panel takes about 7-10 days.
When a landing page is the right choice
You are launching one product, service or offer.
You are running ads and need a page that turns clicks into enquiries.
You are just starting out and need to be online quickly.
Your budget is tight and you want to test the idea first.
When you need a full website
You offer several services and each one needs its own explanation.
You want to show past work, prices or FAQs in detail.
You want to be found on Google for different searches over time.
You plan to publish news, offers or blog posts regularly.
A quick way to decide
Question | If yes |
|---|---|
Do you sell one main thing? | Landing page |
Do you need to go live this week? | Landing page |
Do you have three or more services? | Full website |
Do you want to post updates or articles? | Business website with a blog |
Do you want to change every page yourself? | Full CMS website |
Start small, grow later
You do not have to decide forever. Many businesses start with a landing page, see enquiries coming in, and then grow it into a full website. If the first page is built well, that step is simple, and nothing you paid for goes to waste.
Not sure which one fits your business? Tell me what you do and who your customers are, and I will tell you honestly which option makes sense.
